-The Pelicans have fired their coach Alvin Gentry. The team’s performance in the bubble of 2 wins and 6 losses was underwhelming and people expected more. Lonzo Ball didn’t play well, but most of the team didn’t play well. I think this is more about sending a message to the young guys and hopefully waking them up. The Sun went 8-0 with a bunch of young guys so I think the expectations were high and they failed to meet them. Fair or not, that means the coach is getting fired.
-George Kittle and Travis Kelce have been received huge contracts from the 49ers and Chiefs respectively. They’re two of the best Tight Ends in the league and are deserving of big paydays. Kittle gets 5 year/$75 million while Kelce got 4 years/$57.25 million. Also in contract news, Nose Tackle Kenny Clark is getting a 4 year/$70 million extension from the Packers.
-Daniel Cormier has retired after his loss to UFC Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic at UFC 252. I’ll talk about this more on my blog at MMATorch.com this week but this is big news, even if it was expected. DC has long talked about retiring. He had a great career and is definitely one of the top fighters to ever do it.
