-The Boston Celtics beat the Toronto Raptors 92-87 in Game 7 of their series to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals. Boston will play the Miami Heat starting Tuesday. Boston was led by Jayson Tatum with 29 points and 12 rebounds and 7 assists, and Jaylen Brown had 21 points and 8 rebounds. The Raptors got 20 points from Fred VanVleet. Marcus Smart had a great block on a Norman Powell fastbreak layup with just under a minute left and Boston up by 2. That was the Raptors chance right there, but Smart got the block. This was a great series.
-The Denver Nuggets beat the Los Angeles Clippers 111-105 to get the series to 3-2. Nikola Jokic had 22 points and 14 rebounds and Jamal Murray had 26 points and 8 rebounds and 7 assists. The Clippers got 36 points and 9 rebounds from Kawhi Leonard and 26 points from Paul George but it wasn’t enough. The Clippers just collapsed in the 4th quarter, allowing Denver to score 38 points. The Nuggets can get hot, but that’s some bad defense more than anything. L.A. will try to close them out tomorrow at 1PM EST.
College football has plenty of big games today. Or at least they feel big because they’re actually happening. And the NFL has their first Sunday games tomorrow. I really think the NBA and other sports need to avoid the weekend at all costs. If people have to choose what sport to watch, it’s going to be football.
