This was the aftermatch show after Clash of Champions. Let’s get to the rundown.
GOOD- Drew McIntyre and WWE Legends promo, Randy Orton warning
Ric Flair, Christian, Big Show, and Shawn Michaels introduced WWE World Champion Drew McIntyre. They all glad-handed each other and such, which is a nice change of pace. I like seeing legends so I liked this segment. Randy Orton appeared on the screen and promised revenge. I’m guessing he’ll fight McIntyre at the Hell in a Cell show but who knows for sure?
GOOD- Asuka beats Zelina Vega to retain her WWE RAW Women’s Title
This was a pretty good match. Vega probably shouldn’t be facing Asuka right now, though. They should probably build her up some before this, but the matches are good. Vega missed a moonsault at the end that Asuka turned into the Asuka Lock and got the submission.
BAD/GOOD- Keith Lee squashes Andrade
I like both of these guys but that’s why I’m going BAD here. Lee beat Andrade in basically a squash match. That’s just dumb and a waste of Andrade’s talent. Yeah, he needs a manager, he needs a mouthpiece, though I think he’s good enough on the mic to still talk some but having Zelina Vega do the talking was so much better. Andrade can have some very good matches with pretty much anybody so they need to protect him. I know they need to put Lee over strong because they’ve already messed up with him with the dumb DQ stuff with Orton but not at the expense of Andrade.
BAD/UGLY- Mysterio family crap
First off, the acting is so terrible here with Aalyah and Dominik Mysterio. It’s worse than the acting on Saturday Night Live. I mean, I almost expect to see them looking “offstage” for cue cards. The acting is terrible, it’s god-awful. I like Dominik in the ring and I’m sure Aalyah is a nice girl but holy hell. And the story is just as bad. Seth Rollins took Murphy’s phone and posted texts between him and Aalyah, which made Dominik attack Murphy. Aalyah slapped Dominik and ran off, blah blah blah. Did Vince Russo come back to write this shit? This is that Jerry Springer trash he always liked. There’s a certain trainwreck appeal to it, I suppose, look at shows like The Bachelor for example, but this is a waste of the talent involved. Later in the night, Murphy pinned Dominik after he was distracted by Aalyah, who didn’t want him to use a kendo stick on Murphy.
Also, I’ve seen some people having a big problem with the age difference between Aalyah (19) and Murphy (32). Who cares? This is so stupid. Love knows no age, so long as they’re both adults. Plus, this is also sexist. If the roles were reversed and the man was 19 and the woman was 32, those same dopes would be clapping like seals and going “Get it girl!” or something like that. Hell, I even saw that Alexa Bliss was getting some backlash from people because she tweeted out something about Murphy shooting his shot. Get the hell out of here.
BAD- Mandy Rose and Dana Brook beat Lana and Natalya
This was short and sloppy and I wonder why it was even on RAW.
GOOD/BAD- Kevin Owens beats Aleister Black by DQ
The match was fine. It wasn’t their best work but it wasn’t bad or anything. Black struck the ref and got DQ’d for the finish. That’s fine. The BAD comes from the new entrance Black had. He has a new song, I didn’t like it, and a new entrance, which I hate. Instead of coming up on that board, he just walks out. That sucks, his old stuff was better. He’s also back to wearing that eye wrap thing again. Are we just supposed to forget when he didn’t wear that on RAW Underground? There was also some R-Truth 24/7 Title stuff. Pass on that.
BAD/GOOD- Ali, Ricochet, and Apollo Crews beat The Hurt Business
This was a really short match that didn’t live up to its potential. All these guys deserve much better.
GOOD- Drew McIntyre beats Robert Roode
They had a really good match here. Roode showed why WWE should push him harder. Obviously McIntyre was going to win and go over strong but Roode was really good in this match. It felt kind of old-school but in a good way. This was one of the better matches McIntyre has had as champion.
GOOD/BAD- Orton attacks the WWE Legends
All night Ric Flair, Christian, Big Show, and Shawn Michaels had been playing cards backstage so you knew something was going to happen. Randy Orton disguised himself as a janitor, put on night-vision goggles, and turned off the lights in the room. Then chairshot sounds were heard. I don’t know exactly how to feel about this. On the one hand, the night-vision googles and turning the lights out is eye-rolling kind of crap. It’s so contrived, like when the wrestlers talk about secretive stuff right in front of the camera. On the other hand, it was different and unique. I think I’m leaning more towards not liking it but they needed a way for Orton to get revenge and write the legends off so I guess this works.
