The offensive explosion in the NFL continued as all of the early games saw the winner score 30+ points. Let’s get to the rundown.
-The Cleveland Browns moved to 3-1 as they beat the 1-3 Dallas Cowboys 49-38 as the Cowboys came roaring back from 41-14 to get within 3 points at 41-38 before Odell Beckham Jr. took a run 50 yards for the touchdown, showcasing his incredible athleticism. Nick Chubb was hurt during the game and it could be serious, though Cleveland is hoping it’s not too bad. Dak Prescott had over 500 yards passing, becoming the first player in history to have over 450+ yards passing in 3 straight games.
-The 2-2 New Orleans Saints beat the 1-3 Detroit Lions 35-29. Drew Brees threw the ball deep with accuracy, showing that he’s done quite yet.
-The 3-1 Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the 1-3 Los Angeles Chargers 38-31 as Tom Brady threw 5 touchdowns, 6 if you count the pick-6 he threw during the game. Justin Herbert threw for 290 yards and 3 touchdowns as it looks like the Chargers have found their QB of the future.
-Joe Burrow got his first win as the Cincinnati Bengals moved to 1-2-1 as they beat the 1-3 Jacksonville Jaguars.
-The 1-3 Minnesota Vikings beat the 0-4 Houston Texans 31-23. The Texans are better than their record shows.
-The Seahawks remain undefeated at 4-0 as they beat the 1-3 Miami Dolphins 31-23. Russell Wilson has thrown 16 touchdowns in the first 4 games, tying him with Peyton Manning’s NFL record. And Seattle needs every single one of them, as they continue to win 1 score games every week.
-The 2-2 Carolina Panthers beat the 2-2 Arizona Cardinals 31-21. The Panthers have won 2 in a row while the Cardinals have lost two straight.
-The Baltimore Ravens moved to 3-1 as they beat the 1-3 Washington Football Team 31-17. Dwayne Haskins played fairly well. No touchdowns but he threw for over 300 yards.
-The 3-1 Los Angeles Rams beat the winless New York Giants 17-9 to drop them to 0-4 on the season. Darius Slayton is a good receiver but I don’t know about Daniel Jones. Sometimes he plays well and sometimes he makes horrible decisions.
-The Buffalo Bills remain undefeated at 4-0 as they beat the 2-2 Las Vegas Raiders 30-23. Josh Allen didn’t have 300 yards passing for the first time this season but he did throw 2 touchdowns.
-The Indianapolis Colts moved to 3-1 as they gave the 3-1 Chicago Bears their first loss of the season 19-11. The Bears certainly don’t feel like a 3-1 team, they didn’t play well offensively at all. Though to be fair, the Colts do have one of the top defenses in the league, at least statistically.
-Finally, the Philadelphia Eagles moved to the top of the NFC L-East as they won their first game of the year last night to get to 1-2-1 as they beat the 2-2 San Francisco 49ers 25-20. 49ers receiver Brandon Aiyuk did have a spectacular hurdle on a TD run in the first quarter. The 49ers benched Nick Mullens in the 4th quarter for CJ Beathard, after Mullens threw a pick-6.
Another wild week in the NFL in the books. We have 2 more big games today as the Kansas City Chiefs host the New England Patriots at 7PM EST on CBS and the Atlanta Falcons travel to play the Green Packers at 8:50PM EST on ESPN. Thanks for reading.
