Peacock has released the first trailer for the Saved by the Bell reboot. It looks okay. There’s a few funny moments. I like at the end when the kid says to Slater, “Coach, I want to be just like you when I grow up. A childless adult who parties who kids.” I’m not saying it’s bust out loud laughing stuff, but it’s fun enough.
Honestly, the new characters look the least interesting. Well, most of them anyway. I’d give them a chance before writing them off, but you can tell who the annoying characters are going to be, the ones who talk about privilege and things like that. If they just want to revisit old characters to show what they’re doing now and have some fun with new people, that’s fine. But if they want to try to make political points and preach and stuff, it’s going to be a slog because no one is going to tune in to Saved by the Bell for that. You got to read the room. It looks okay but I personally am not getting excited for it just yet. I hope it’s good, I grew up with the original show, but we’ll have to wait and see. This initial trailer looks fine so it might surprise you.
