Yesterday was another wild day of action in the NFL, as we saw upsets, big matchups, and a lot of young guys playing well. Let’s get to the rundown.
-The Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Baltimore Ravens 28-24 in a battle of AFC heavyweights. Ben Roethlisberger threw for 2 scores and Robert Spillane got a Pick-6 as the Steelers moved to 7-0. The Ravens fall to 5-2.
-The Minnesota Vikings upset the Green Bay Packers 28-22 at windy Lambeau Field. Wind was a factor in several games yesterday was the real deciding factor for the Vikings. He had 163 yards rushing with 3 touchdowns and added another 63 yards and a touchdown receiving. He was dominant as the Vikings moved to 2-5 and the Packers fell to 5-2.
-The Cincinnati Bengals upset the Tennessee Titans 31-20 as Joe Burrow threw for 2 touchdowns. The Bengals controlled the clock and got themselves to 2-5-1 as the Titans lost their second in a row to fall to 5-2.
-The Kansas City Chiefs destroyed the New York Jets 35-9 behind 416 yards passing and 5 touchdowns from Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs couldn’t run the ball but they didn’t need to. The Jets remain winless at 0-8 and the Chiefs improve to 7-1.
-The Indianapolis Colts beat up the Detroit Lions 41-21 to improve to 5-2. Philip Rivers threw 3 touchdowns . The Lions are now 3-4.
-The Miami Dolphins beat the Los Angeles Rams 28-17 behind Jakeem Grant’s 88 yard punt return touchdown (he also added a 45 yard kickoff return) and Andrew Van Ginkel’s 78 yard fumble return for a touchdown. Tua Tagovailoa made his NFL debut and passed for a touchdown but largely was asked to just manage things. The Dolphins improve to 4-3 while the Rams fall to 5-3.
-The Buffalo Bills held off the New England Patriots 24-21 to get to 6-2 while the Patriots fell to 2-5. Cam Newton had a late fumble as the Patriots were trying to either get a winning touchdown or tying field goal.
-The Las Vegas Raiders beat the Cleveland Browns 16-6 in a windy game. Both quarterbacks threw for a bit over 100 yards passing. The Raiders move to 4-3 while the Browns fall to 5-3.
-The Denver Broncos beat the Los Angeles Chargers 31-30 as Drew Lock threw a touchdown to K.J. Hamler as time expired. Lock threw 3 touchdowns as the Broncos get to 3-4 and the Chargers fall to 2-5 and manage to lose yet another 1 point game.
-The New Orleans Saints beat the Chicago Bears 26-23 in Overtime. Drew Brees threw 2 touchdowns and Alvin Kamara added 163 total yards and Wil Lutz went 4-5 on field goals. The Bears were their typical frustrating to watch selves but so were the Saints. Brees and Nick Foles both had numerous times where you wanted to yell at the TV for them to throw it but instead they’d take some stupid checkdown or 3 yard curl. However, the lowlight was Bears WR Javon Wims throwing two punches at Saints DB C.J. Garder-Johnson. The Saints are now 5-2 while the Bears are 5-3.
-The Seattle Seahawks beat the San Francisco 49ers 37-27 behind Russell Wilson’s 4 touchdown passes. D.K. Metcalf had 12 catches for 161 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Seahawks are 6-1 while the 49ers fall to 4-4.
-The Philadelphia Eagles beat the Dallas Cowboys 23-9 as the Eagles found a way to get it done. It was sloppy but you take what you can get from the NFC East. The Eagles move to 3-4-1 while the Cowboys fall to 2-6.
