GOOD/BAD- Opening segment with Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton promo
They set up a match between Orton and Wyatt for the main event. Wyatt was okay, though his Mr. Rogers character is hot and miss. The BAD comes from Orton’s talking style. He talks so damn slow and drawn out, it just really kills about anything he has to say. It mirrors RAW in that they really need to cut an hour from the show and Orton really needs to start speaking like a normal person.
BAD- Asuka beat Shayna Baszler
This should be a main event type feud between two badasses. Instead, they’re orbiting the “feud” (if you can call it that) between Nia Jax and Lana. Asuka won the quick match with a roll-up. Baszler deserves better to be the one always doing the job on the team.
GOOD/BAD- Ricochet and Dana Brooke beat Slapjack and Reckoning
They weren’t given much time but there’s talent involved so what was there was good. The problem was having Reckoning get berated by Ali for losing again. The whole group has been losing constantly since their introduction. Getting rid of Reckoning limits who they can feud and interact with, and it’s too early in the group’s history to be jettisoning members.
GOOD/BAD- Kofi Kingston beat Shelton Benjamin, Cedric Alexander beat Kofi
The Kingston vs. Benjamin match was pretty good, though it was expected that Kofi would win since Xavier Woods lost to Cedric last week. After Kofi won, Cedric yelled that he wanted to face him. The look on MVP and Benjamin’s faces as he was talking clearly teased possible growing tension with them and Cedric. It’s just like WWE to want to break up The Hurt Business, they’re one of the best parts of RAW. I hope I’m wrong and that isn’t the plan but I could easily see them having Cedric thrown out of the group.
GOOD/BAD- AJ Styles, The Miz, and John Morrison beat Sheamus and Drew McIntyre
Once again, Miz and Morrison sold like crazy and looked like impotent chumps against Sheamus and McIntyre. I like all these guys, why can’t they at least give them a little offense? The match was good, no surprise given the talent involved, but would it kill them to give them a little bit of shine? Sheamus went to hit the Brogue Kick but hit McIntyre instead, which they kept selling as Sheamus turning on Drew, which is dumb because it was an accident. Styles hit the Phenomenal Forearm and got the win.
GOOD- Bobby Lashley beat Jeff Hardy
This was my favorite match of the night and the best part of the show. Lashley looked dominant but Hardy also looked good, using his savvy and experience to get his offense in. He also bumped well to make Lashley look even better.
GOOD- Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt is a No Contest
Wyatt enjoyed the pain of Orton’s offense and they went back and forth until Orton hit the RKO and the lights went out. Then, The Fiend showed up next to Orton and put the Mandible Claw on him as the show ended. That was different and sets up how Orton will have to do something crazy to beat The Fiend in their match at TLC.
