GOOD- Matt Hardy and Private Party beat “Hangman” Adam Page and the Dark Order
There was some good action in this match, no surprise given the guys involved. Page and John Silver and Alex Reynolds from The Dark Order showed some good chemistry but Private Party ended up basically winning the match before Hardy tagged himself in to register the pin.
GOOD- Cody Rhodes beat Angelico
It would have been cool to see Angelico get the win here but it’s no surprise that Rhodes won. I could also understand why they would want to build that up, that would make more sense. They went all out with this match, though, as Angelico used a lot of his unique offense and counters. This was a really good match, Cody ended up winning with a Cody Cutter off the top rope. After the match, Team Taz came out and was about to jump Rhodes when Sting came out with his bat, running them off before looking at Rhodes and TNT Champion Darby Allin up in the crowd. It’s smart for them to draw out Sting getting involved in the action because at his age, he’s not going to be able to live up to the nostalgia, but they run the risk of turning off people because I imagine there’s a fair amount of people saying “That’s it?” as Sting walks out, winks at Cody and looks at Darby, then walks to the back.
GOOD- Big brawl in the ring
Eddie Kingston came out and cut a promo claiming to have ended Pac’s career. He then ran down Lance Archer before Archer came out and they started brawling. The Butcher and The Blade ran in to help, followed by the Lucha Bros. Then Pac ran in and the heels powdered.
GOOD- The Inner Circle beat Top Flight, Varsity Blondes, and Best Friends
As expected, this was a chaotic match with most of the guys getting a short moment to shine. Sammy Guevara was the standout to me, looking great in the ring. Darius and Dante Martin from Top Flight also looked good. The heels won with a bat assist from Chris Jericho but got run off and the faces did a big 6-man hug in the middle of the ring.
GOOD- The Acclaimed beat SCU
Credit to SCU for making The Acclaimed look good here. Max Caster and Anthony Bowens have a lot of potential but it’s hard to say how good they’ll be. After the win, The Acclaimed challenged AEW Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks to a match next week.
GOOD- Big Swole and NWA Women’s Champion Serena Deeb beat Ivelisse and Diamante
This match was okay, nothing great but it had decent enough action. After the win, Nyla Rose ran in and attacked the faces, bringing out Red Velvet with a chair to even the odds.
GOOD- AEW World Champion Kenny Omega beat Joey Janela in a No DQ match
There were some nasty spots in this match. Omega did a top rope double stomp to Janela, who had a trash can on him, with the can surely hitting him in the face. Then, Janela did a leg drop off the top rope to the floor, putting Omega through a table, with Janela’s ass landing right on Omega’s face. Ouch. Omega won, no surprise there, then Death Triangle showed up, with Pac stating that Rey Fenix never lost in the tournament and deserved a title shot. And he’s getting one on December 30th. Good way to end a fast-paced show.
