Saturday January 9, 2021

#7 Indianapolis Colts vs. #2 Buffalo Bills 1:05pm EST CBS

The Bills are, without a doubt, one of the best teams in football. Josh Allen is playing so well and their offense is explosive and their defense has been making plays when they need it. The Colts have a good defense so they should be able to slow down the Bills some, but I don’t think they’ll be able to score enough to win. Their best best is to run the ball as much as possible and keep the ball out of Philips Rivers’ hand. BUF- 37 IND-20

#6 Los Angeles Rams vs. #3 Seattle Seahawks 4:40pm EST FOX

Jared Goff might be back for the Rams but I don’t trust him. If Goff plays, he could definitely be one of the big reasons they win, or easily be the reason they lose. The Seahawks are too inconsistent but I think they get the job done in a close game. I trust Russell Wilson more than Goff. SEA- 28 LAR- 24

#5 Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. #4 Washington Football Team 8:15pm EST NBC

Washington has a good defense, primarily because of their defensive line. They’ll be able to get after Tom Brady but there’s just too much firepower on the Bucs. Even if Mike Evans can’t play, which the team is hopeful he’ll be able to, there’s still way too many weapons on the team. I’m sure Brady will take a few hits and might be sore the next day but Tampa Bay gets the win here. If you’re betting on any of the games, this is the lock. Washington might keep it close for a while but then Tampa goes off and it’s done from there. Washington just won’t be able to score enough. TB- 34 WAS- 13

#5 Baltimore Ravens vs. #4 Tennessee Titans 1:05pm EST ABC/ESPN

The Ravens look to avenge their playoff loss last year. This is the game that’s hardest for me to pick. Part of me says there’s no way I can pick against the Titans, Derrick Henry just had a 2,000 yard season and Ryan Tannehill has been playing fantastic football. But their defense is just okay and the Ravens are hot. They just ran for 400 yards against the Bengals. I’ll go with the Ravens here but I’m not very confident in that. BAL- 31 TEN- 28

#7 Chicago Bears vs. #2 New Orleans Saints 4:40pm EST CBS/Nickelodeon/Amazon Prime

The Bears have been playing much better lately but the Saints are driven. Their offense has been clicking and their defense can shut anybody down. I think they’ll need that, as the Bears defense can give them problems. The Saints are looking to make a statement that their past playoff woes are over and I think they do that. NO- 27 CHI- 14

#6 Cleveland Browns vs. #3 Pittsburgh Steelers 8:15pm EST NBC/Telemundo/Peacock

This one depends on which Pittsburgh offense shows up. This might be more me hoping this happens than anything else, but I think the Browns roll in there and pull off the upset. I don’t trust Ben Roethlisberger’s arm or his eyes. He’s made a lot of horrible reads and bad throws in the last few months. The defense might be able to bail him out but I think the Browns run the ball effectively and Baker Mayfield makes a few key plays here and there and the Browns get it done. CLE- 27 PIT- 24
